Consultation Process Online Form
The Civil Service Commissioners are committed to fulfilling their obligations to promote equality of opportunity and good relations under Section 75 of, and Schedule 9 to, the Northern Ireland Act 1998 and to meeting their responsibilities under Section 49A of the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006.
The Civil Service Commissioners publish an Annual report, which is available by following this link. Also avilable on the website are copies of a Disability Action Plan, which they have produced for the first time this year, their Equality Scheme and their Annual Progress Report to the Equality Commission.
Commissioners are committed to consulting as effectively as possible and are keen to update the list of consultees to confirm that your name or your organisation's name is accurate and that you wish to be included in any future consultation exercises.
Commissioners are reviewing their consultation processes and would like to consider how best to communicate information to the interested parties, including disabled people and the representative groups likely to be interested in the Commissioners' work. They are keen to ensure that all interested parties have the opportunity to fully participate in any future consultation exercises and that any possible barriers affecting Section 75 groups and disabled people are identified and removed.
The primary responsibility of the Civil Service Commissioners is to regulate and bring independence and objectivity to the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) recruitment policies and practices and a key function is to ensure that appointments to the NICS are made on merit, based on fair and open competition. The Commissioners also have a role under the NICS Code of Ethics. Commissioners consider and determine appeals made to them by civil servants.
If you have an interest in the Commissioners work and wish to be included in future consultations, please complete the consultation process form.
In addition, the Commissioners, as part of this exercise, invite you to propose any improvements that could be made which would ensure that the requirements of Section 75 groups and disabled people are met during any future consultation exercises.
