The Office of the Civil Service Commissioners complies with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Data Protection Act 2018. Any information held by the Office is potentially eligible for disclosure but particular categories may be protected, for example, personal information or commercially sensitive information and exemptions, as laid out in legislation, may be applied.

Data Protection Policy

The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK’s implementation of the  General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The Office of the Civil Service Commissioners processes personal information or data by requiring compliance with the Data Protection Principles; that is to ensure information is:

a. used fairly, lawfully and transparently;
b. used for specific, explicit purposes;
c. used in a way that is adequate, relevant and limited to only what is necessary;
d. accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date;
e. kept for no longer than is necessary; and
f. handled in a way that ensures appropriate security, including protection against unlawful or unauthorised processing, access, loss, destruction or damage.
